IBM Application Scanner (AppScan) was developed to act as a tool to assist in detecting vulnerabilities that companies may have whom utilize Web applications. Such vulnerabilities can lead to a variety of cyber-related threats and could potentially have damaging effects to a company's credibility. Preventing these vulnerabilities is IBM AppScan's main focus, be it new or existing applications, as it provides mechanisms to its users to periodically test against known vulnerabilities.
